Back Cover Summary
HER FIRST LOVE MADE HER IMMORTAL.... HER SECOND MIGHT GET HER KILLED.
After spending six hundred years on earth, Seraphina Ames has seen it all. Eternal life provides her with the world's riches, but at a very high price: innocent lives. Centuries ago her boyfriend, Cyrus, discovered a method of alchemy that allows them to take the bodies of other humans by jumping from one vessel to the next, ending the human's life in the process. No longer able to bear the guilt of what she's done, Sera escapes from Cyrus and vows never to kill again.
My Review
I immediately fell in love the moment I laid my hands on this book. The cover is really good! And the plot is really intriguing. Though I got a little bit disappointed knowing this is a series book since I thought it's just an independent one, that's the only thing disappointing. Which is not really after reading the book. I would love to read more of Seraphina and Noah!
The story is actually just short. I think it only took me four hours to finish the story. Though short, it's a good thing the story is not fast-paced. It just flows naturally, making the reader easily grasp the picture of what's really going on. Seraphina's POV is one of the best POV I've read. The writing had captured every emotions of Sera in each of her words. On the negative side, being short as it is, I'm looking for details. Like, what really happened to Kailey, where did she really came from? Development of other characters and more details on Kailey-Sera-Noah love story. But since this is the first book, I'll give it a chance and hope my questions are answered in book 2.
I totally enjoyed reading this book that I was really shocked realizing I'm on the last page. Fortunately, the book gives few pages of the next book. Though a total cliffhanger, I prefer it than nothing! haha And the bonus chapters of Seraphina on her first few days as immortal is a good way for a reader like me to be contented for a while... until the second book comes. But in my opinion, it would be better if these were just all included as actual part of book 1. First, as I've said, the story is really short. So why not include the first chapters on the supposed to be book 2 as part of book 1. I think it would be better, with the ending and all. And also, why not insert Seraphina's few days as immortal where it should be, it will give so much details and remove some unanswered questions from other readers.
